Whats up guys.
So tonight's a rainy night in New York. No bueno. But we're still rockin our vintage hardbodyy. Take a look:
This is pretty adorable and the cotton beret is perfectly acceptable headwear for the summer. I hate seeing people wear beanies/wool/fur/UGGS during the summer. Makes me start to sweat just lookin at it.

Love the oversized buttons.

This one doesn't look quite as hot from afar but wait till you get up close.

Look at the beadwork on the back. Beautiful.
This blouse is beautiful. It's paired with the nylon tricot micro-mesh two sided leggings.
The suble detail on the collar and cuff make this one of a kind.

This one's my personal favorite! Here Sharna Brzycki is workin a vintage scarf wrapped into one of AA's gold chain necklaces with a black rouched tube bra and ash blue stretch twill high-waist side zipper shorts. HOT.
Until next time...

BABE BABE BABE
BABE OF THE WEEK
KYLE OF LOWER BROADWAY
NYO

Kyle we love your look head to toe, the semi pompadour all the way down to the white huaraches. Pairing your bow tie with your vintage short sleeve button up makes you look like a professional of the day. Work that street Kyle, you're burning down the block.

Amazingly yours,

Hayley and Daniel

We had yet another rummage sale in Burlington today. Despite the gloomy weather, Melissa, the Store Manager, and Micaela, the Assistant Manager, still rocked the hot new zipper shorts. Check out their vintage headbands too, brand new to the American Apparel in Vermont!

If it wasn't for these ladies wearing the zipper shorts, we probably wouldn't have sold a thing! :)

Our vintage section continues to expand and get better by the day (except when we sell out of the best things). Stop on in to see for yourself!

For those of you just tuning in... here at China Gate (SF4) we're bringing you a serial fashion pictorial narrative styled after Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City." Last week, we left off with small town girl Cori falling for the fashion sense and good looks of Longshorewoman Arielle. Though Cori usually dates the mens and Arielle's heart is cold, the two decided on a date. We pick it up at SF4 on a Thursday at about noon.

Samantha, a new addition to the American Apparel family, is working hard in her vintage romper and visor that she's styled with the graphic thong leotard. She's only on her second day. A San Francisco native, Samantha (or Sam) has just returned to the Bay from a 9 month heartbreak roadtrip. She was savagely dumped on halloween when her and her former love had been dressed as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Poor Sam was left alone and Dum...

Meanwhile Arielle arrives at SF4 for her date with Cori. She's softened up her usual stone butch look with a vintage flannel, with a zippered elastic belt and a pair of vintage frames. Though she worked from 6pm to 6am and feels excited and nervous, she hides it well. Fresh faced and ready for love, she searches the store for Cori - her hicktown honey.

That's when she runs into Samantha, the Dum to her Dee, the delicate flower of a woman-child that she so savagely quit on Halloween. The moment is tense, uncomfortable, unbearable, seemingly endless, ongoing, infinite, troubling, irritating, tense, uncomfortable, unbearable, seemingly endless, ongoing, infinite, troubling, irritating, tense, uncomfortable, unbearable, seemingly endless, ongoing, infinite, troubling, irritating...

Just then, keyholder Mica swoops in and awkwardly places his stick-like arm around the soft shoulders of shy-brokenhearted-tender Samantha (he's sporting a vintage tee with elegant shoes, white bull denim, and white suspenders). Though Sam is new to the store and she and Mica just met, "We just hit it off, it was totally meant to be," she says to Arielle. Mica and Arielle are introduced. Sam vaguely explains their history to Mica, as Arielle fumes off searching for her date, her day bespoiled.

Mica seems angry, or is that discomfort, or wait... maybe its titillation...

What happens next? Check with us next week.

xo
Mica

P.S. Right now we're working it out with a bare minimum of CS at SF4, but boy howdy, do we love it. Everyday we're waiting with bated breath, fingers crossed, hoping that a box or two, or 20 of CS will graciously end up in our store.

While the rain is falling outside check out what these girls are wearing inside. Gaze at Hazel in her vintage spotted blouse and belt combo. Check Beth in her vintage dress and cotton crop top. Don't you think they look elegant with the high heeeeels? Phew it's getting hot in here.

Here at the Factory headquarters, we have an endless supply of glasses to satisfy any eye wearing connoisseur. Our lovely lady Hayley is modeling our 'Fall Eyewear 09' collection for some of our California Select stores. Who better than Hayley to model our specs? She loves the future and she loves eyeglasses.
Welcome back to Atlanta fellow Vintage lovers! This week we are going to keep it short, sweet, and simple, just like our resident employee Asha! Here, Asha models Cali Select's Vintage Blouse. The cute fashionista decided to wear this piece as a dress and pair it with a Cross-Back Bra.

GA4's newest arrival, FLORAL HEADBANDS!!!! We are super excited to add these awesomery pieces to our CS family. Here, Jenn, Monica, and Sam (Our Resident Charlie's Angels) decided to take a quick snap and showcase these vintage gems. The vintage fabrics are so unique, and at only 8 dollars, we know the lovely ladies of Atlanta will not be able to get enough. To conclude, Vintage Blouses, Vintage Headbands, what more can any girl want? See ya next week, same bat time, same bat channel. <3 T
Now, we don’t want to toot our own horn, our California Select vintage pieces have been flying off the racks. I mean what do you expect, it’s like going to a vintage store, except someone already picked out the best pieces for you to choose from. But don’t fret faithful vintage hunters, we just replenished our stock with fresh finds for the oncoming summer days.Sales Associate Kelly Merlot (yes, like the wine) models a new CS knee-length, plaid skirt, paired with an AA black bandeau bra and raspberry wide elastic belt. The light fabric of the skirt is comfortable and perfect for the hot weather.

Here Ms. Merlot sports CS vintage pleated shorts and an airy, plaid women’s blouse. The light pastel colored blouses and high-waisted shorts have been extremely popular items.

Kelly paired our hot new high-waisted Levi zipper shorts with an absolutely adorable front pocket boat neck blouse. Seriously, if you don’t buy it before I got into work tomorrow, I will.

Finally we have this bold crop top to match Kelly’s bold half mesh leggings she reps with style and class.

That is all for now from LA8. Please stop by and check out the rest of our California Select collection. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Courtney, our super cute new backstock associate, wears the Tie-up Romper, a California Select Original. She pairs it with her favorite lightweight denim skirt, vintage sandals, and the brand new Vintage Floral Bow Headband. Rawwr!

Mr. Jamen Lee, our backstock coordinator here at PO1stark, loves our vintage short sleeve plaid shirts and suspenders. His deadstock vintage shades scream summer. Look out!

Vintage tees are so in. Keyholder Brendan grabbed a super sheer one and paired it with a red pair of suspenders. Brendan chose the shirt because of its catch phrase, 'Hot Fashion, Served Daily', which is a personal motto of his.

We have a bunch of awesome vintage jumpers for summer here at PO1stark! Sales associate Maya puts on her fav one and looks absolutely fab.

We have so many vintage styles to offer here at the downtown Portland american apparel. Come in and check em out! You might be surprised......

Hey Everybody,

So this week I decided to display a corky scenerio where a young Kale and Cassandra get ready to go out on thier first date. And with the help of California Select, they are sure to turn heads wherever they end up.

Gentlemen, this is how you COULD score yourself a woman...

Step 1,

Confide in a friend. Here Kale asks Ryan's oppinion of Cassandra and if he thinks it's a good idea. Ryan approves. Remember, if your friends won't have it, there must be a good reason for it.

Step 2,
Pull that hair back and put some pants on. Let her see your eyes and your intentions. Definitely go with the slim slack lites, twill material is a sure way to show that she was on your mind. ;]
Step 3,
Pick a nice button up. How can she trust you with 8 kids and a farm if you can't figure out such technological complexities as "the button goes through the hole".... OHHH We got this guys, we really do!

Step 4,
BOW TIE UP!

Step 5,
Throw on a nice overcoat. In this situation it is best to go with something that opens in the front. Perhaps later she'll get cold on that stroll down the evening boardwalk? Now you've got the warmth to provide her!

Ladies, This is how you will DEFINITELY win a man...
Step 1,
Call your best girlfriend, ask her what you look cutest in.

Step 2,
You can never try too many things on. Especially when these vintage skirts are so adorable! Take your time and decide on something perfect.

Step 3,
A nice high waist skirt shooting to knee length with a blouse never turned a guy away. A modest approach to keep them guessing what lies yonder, and beyond that, if they will ever live to see. ;]

Step 4,

A floral bow headband reassure's him that this cutie has the elegance to come home and meet mom. (Brand new here at SE4!)

The two are all ready for thier date. Mam n' Pap take akward pictures on thier way out to catch a dinner reservation. "Have a great night you two!" Says Pappy, "Don't go breakin' any commandments now!"

Until next week.

Here at the California Select in Echo Park we offer very unique pieces that we are sure you will love. We offer a great selection of vintage t's for both men and women, as well as shoes. As you can see below, Jasper shows off his favorite Vintage wear. A classic plaid long sleeve collard button down with a yellow vintage tee. And he finishes it off with his Hartwick Skimmer Shoes and vintage meesenger bag.

Ties and shorts are also available:

So please stop by and check out our section. We always have new items coming, like this weeks new vintage floral headband:

Welcome to 28th and 7th ave! NYF employee Danielle takes you for a quick tour of this busy New York corner.

no pizza like new york pizza! (have you ever had mac n cheese pizza with bacon? no? come to new york!)

her friend the fruit man.

mysterious NYPD castle (and dumpster)!

Some days it feels more like I work at BroCo (instead of SoCo). Other days though, like Sundays for instance, it's not that way at all! The ladies of TX2, myself included, come to work in our finest attire and we sell clothes, drink a lot of coffee, chat about how great looking Nate Walton is and usually wind up buying a piece of vintage whether we wanted to or not (you know what I'm saying).

This week, one by one, we each became enamored with the California Select one pieces.

Here's the proof...

Emily (sales associate), has a severe affinity for the CS crop tops. Merely for kicks, she decided to give this black CS one piece a chance and to her surprise, she was completely content with it.

Jennine (key holder) can't keep from jumping in her CS jumper, and at only 36$ a pop, why shouldn't she? Girls just wanna have fun.

Lauren (sales associate) didn't seem to realize her stroke of genius with this CS one piece matched with gold lamé. Once released into the wild, she finally understood the lyric, "I know what boys like."

One of the greatest things about wearing a one piece is the fact that you can never feel under dressed. Just throw on a pair of heels, a neat belt (like the wide elastic belt featured here) and a twinkle in your eye and you're good to go. Oh yeah, this is me, Vanessa (merchandiser) and I like pizza.

OK, love you CS, bye bye!!!

Zarah is one of our cutest regulars. When she dropped by she tried on nearly every piece in our vintage Kid's collection..

...before finally opting for this lovely honey bee print dress. Which she's told us she's going to wear to sleep tonight.

While Zarah is catching the z's...
come on down and check out our other fabulous vintage items!

See you soon!!

Have a look at "California Select" in Amsterdam.

We love the skirts and beautifull coats !!!

More stories and pictures coming soon.........

Here we have our sophisticated sales associate Kyle sporting a vintage short sleeve plaid shirt, vintage sandals, vintage glasses and a cute bow-tie to top if off. Running around SOHO and keeping Kyle safe is our posh Power Ranger sales associate Allen, who is decked out in a vintage short sleeve plaid shirt over his vintage T. Stop by to see this California Select dream team in action!

Here at BO1, in addition to a distinctive collection of CS Vintage clothes, shoes, scarves, and headwear, we are home to three full cases of vintage deadstock eyewear. No classic look is complete without a pair of vintage specs! Clear, tinted, and dark... all shapes and sizes--we have something for everyone. Now, some inspiration from those who understood the power of the frame:

Bob.

Janis.

Sally.

Twiggy.

Buddy.

Kim.

This week, keyholder, in-store merchandiser, and CS Blog nerd Jessica (hi!) models a selection of AA vintage frames she has amassed over the years:

Finally, this week's classy ladies/ BO1 shoppers who know how to wear and accessorize vintage and vintage-inspired pieces:

Thanks, ladies. You look amazing!
Meet Emily and Brandi from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology location

Emily, Keyholder and In-Store Merchandiser, is wearing the new lace bodysuit with the California Select Levi Zip Shorts. She loves that she can un-zip them three different ways. She is usually seen wearing her zip shorts while bowling at the Chelsea Piers

Brandi, store manager, is wearing a California Select one-piece. It may look conservative from the front, but from the back it shows a tasteful amount of skin. She loves wearing onesies with her pure bred Bulldog puppy on the Upper East Side section of Central Park.

HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO from Melrose!

Not sure if you have checked out the new vintage section of our store, but its kind of awesome, not going to lie.

We have vintage tees, skirts, dresses, shorts and the list goes on. And to show all of you some of our collection, some of the employees at
Melrose modeled their favorite items.....

JUST IN! floral bow headbands!

Introducing the new floral headbands is
Schyna, an awesome sales associate, who loves the cute new item..and studies Kinesiology.

Recently, we also got in denim shorts with zippers on the side...for you to keep zipped or to style whichever you want to rock them. Amy, the newest addition to the
Melrose store, paired her zipper shorts with a vintage silk crop top....and looks adorable!

Sade, a
keyholder and a talented rock star (musician) is wearing the ever popular rompers. These are flying off the racks so come on in and Sade can show you the many different ways to wear this style!

Vintage tees are loved by both men and women, and as you can see from the picture of
backstock associate, Nate Walton, (and you can jam to his playlists on VIVA..what what) they look sexy.

Jessica, a
keyholder and a vintage clothing connoisseur, is modeling the silk crop top and the bow shorts. Big shorts are back in action!

This is Jason and Nate, two of our finest backstock employees at Melrose, modeling the spring men's long sleeve shirts and vintage sunglasses. We also carry the spring men's short sleeve shirts....I dare you to look as sexy as these two.

Make sure you come check out the extensive vintage collection at
Melrose! And check back in with us here on the blog. We will be posting news from Melrose every week, featuring some of the Melrose American Apparel employees and their take on the vintage looks! Get to know the store, the employees and the vintage collection!

Hello interweb world! I would like to introduce you to a wonderous little land called AA Buckhead in Atlanta, GA. For those of you who aren't familiar, Buckhead is the neighborhood where all those housewives on Bravo went shopping before they went bankrupt. (J/K! Love you, NeNe!) But anyway, as awesome as Atlanta is, it's pretty spread out, and it's hard to find any vintage outside of Little Five Points (home to ATL's other AA store, GA3!).
Enter the California Select section at American Apparel in Buckhead.

We have a great selection of long sleeved and short sleeved vintage plaid button downs, super soft and sometimes hilariously captioned vintage tees...

(forgive me, apparently I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy)

We also have some of the fantastic Cali Select rompers that have been flying out of the store ever since we put one on this little lady....(super thanks to whoever made the Ways to Wear POP!)

Our newest arrival is the denim zipper shorts. I can't wait to see what our creative customers make of these!

Our newest arrival to our staff is super sweet and cute Melissa, who is showing off our Cali Select plaid cotton crop top with some light side zipper pants.

If all of that doesn't make you want to come down here and check out our vintage collection, maybe this will:

a killer selection of beautiful vintage silk scarves that rival the collection my grandmother gave me. I still drool a little every time we get a new shipment. They're only $6 a pop and for sure cooler than anything you'll find at old Unoriginal Outfitters across the street.

So if you can bear the heat and need some vintage to go with that Deep V, hit us up at AA Buckhead, across the street from Lenox Square Mall. That's right, across the street. We are not in the mall, people.
Okay, thanks, see you soon!
R

Theres what Cali. Select is looking like in San Diego.(SD4)

Yvette and Christian awkwardly posing.

This is a customer.(She gave consent to use this pic) She bought a vintage scarf.

Joey works backstock. He is also in a rock band...if you couldn't tell.

Saira does all of the merchandising at SD4.

There has to be someone who wants it...

Look at Christians Muscles.

Next week will be better.
Thanks.

Yeah. So, I've been getting weekly phone calls from a private number (but the caller is not so private) asking.. no! DEMANDING to know why Dallas isn't "happening" enough to have California Select featured at either one of their two immaculate stores. The thing is - Austin is where America's at. If you want Cali so bad, come get it.

Straight down 35, baby!

Here at SoCo we have a plethora of playful little crop tops, a wide array of button up shirts, neato zip up shorts and a treasure chest full of tie up rompers that come in and sail away, just like waves.

Speaking of waves... here is key holder Josh Mills in his CS short sleeved button up.
He adds a dash of intrigue with the icy hot dead stock frames and vintage bag.

This is me, your tireless immigrated (Legalize LA, word up) commentator, Vanessa Chaves - merchandiser here at SoCo. Despite the fact that my bottom tried to eat my shorts most of the day, I am pleased with California Select as a whole. Thank you to the entire CS team. You rock. And roll.

In conclusion...
Austin goes hard and if you still need reassurance, just ask Drew (Barrymore).
Wuthup ith Bruno!.. (I don't know if you guys checked out Bruno yet but if you haven't, DO! I hear they took out the LaToya Jackson bit because of the recent passing of MJ).

Anyways, onto the main agenda; LES'ers love their vintage! What's been the hottest CS item of the week? Our dresses:

Lovin' the cinched back.

I'm definitely one to notice all the little details, and the neckline and buttons definitely make this dress.
Another style we love: ROMPERS. Easy to wear. Just throw one on; you don't have to go digging for a two-piece outfit and it works perfect for saving space when vacationing.

Our very own Jazzlyn Ferreira rockin' this romper. Look at that hunched, model pose. Get it girrrll! I also love the color; rich and radiant, perfect for summer.

Last but not least, my personal favorite outfit: the stretch twill high-waisted side zipper short in Coral with a CS crop top (notice the keyhole opening in the back) and vintage over-sized glasses.

Until next time...

I am delighted to write about the current developments of one of my favorite sections of the store-California Select Vintage! Though we are a train ride from the city, we still keep it stylin' in Westchester. So, here our charming new sales-associate, Mishan, is wearing the rompers as bow shorts, a jersey scarf as a sweetheart bust top and vintage sandals and shades to match. We just received the zipper denim shorts-which I cannot wait to purchase-and the men's light plaid button ups. Can't wait to see what's to come.
Hey All! Starting today and every Friday following, we will present a Babe of the Week from that week's blog posts. The four babes that were chosen in that month will be put into a hat and a BABE OF THE MONTH will be chosen, this will be considered the Mega Babe and we'll send you a special gift. To be considered, show us your best California Select style and keep up what you've been doing. This week's Babe:
